On a cold weekend in February 2008, a handful of brave TCC members attended a skills training course ran by Andrew and Sam Wilkinson:
We all thought this would be quite a gentle weekend, after all, aren't most of the skills in kayaking transferrable to open canoeing? How hard can it be????At the end of the weekend, I was the first to admit that it is a lot harder than it looks, and I had muscles hurting that I did not know I had!

They say a dog is a mans best friend - I think this little hound just loved the boats!!

How many people can you fit into a canadian?
The best thing was we did not fall out, but on the down side, we had a race with Jim in his single, and we got beat!

We learnt the art of "poling"

Steve and Neil could not stop themselves showing off their silky gunnell bopping skills, although you can't help but think Steve nearly went too far!!

We really enjoyed the whole weekend, and would recommend that anyone thinking about open canoeing should give it a go!!
