Taunton canoe club actively encourages disabled canoeists into recreational and competitive paddling. One of the clubs members, Dave Cooke, is the Disabled Persons Representative on the South West Region Comittee of the BCU and also a disabled paddler.
The club house in Priory bridge car park has disabled access and toilets, and a ramp down to water level on the River Tone. We have several kayaks suitable for disabled beginners, including a Topolino Duo (a two seater with large cockpits) and several Open boats.
Disable people are welcome to attend the open sessions, running from June to September on Thursday evenings from 6:30pm to 8pm. We also have monthly pool sessions on Thursdays from 9pm to 10pm in St James Street pool, please see the calendar for dates.
